Project Description
Ongoing – Bimtech were appointed by Doric Contracting in June 2016 to produce details, elevations and shop drawings for the Iconic Yagan Square project in the Heart of Perth City. Bimtech in conjunction with the Façade Engineers (Atelier JV) lead a team of 14 drafting & design technicians to fully document the very complex façade on Yagan.
Comprising of many different local materials, the Architects (Lyons) have recreated the story of a local Aboriginal legend named “Yagan” and His story is captured in the design of the building. Due to the complex geometry of the façade, the façade support structure must be 3D scanned by laser to determine accurate set out of the façade on site.
This is required due to the very fine installation tolerances to ensure the façade sits exactly where it should in space once installed. Bimtech can work with the 3D laser point cloud scans to “overlay” the design steelwork to detect potential clashes & extracting exact coordinates for site set out. A very challenging project for all involved.
